Ceramic Bodies

The economical preparation of ceramic bodies

EcoPrep® (Economical Preparation) is the energy-efficient and resource-saving process for the preparation of ceramic bodies. A major advantage of this process is its huge improvement of the energy balance-sheet compared to conventional preparation methods with a spray tower.

This allows EcoPrep® to significantly reduce production costs so that an investment in this technology reaches break-even point very quickly.
Flow properties of EcoPrep® granules

The flow properties of EcoPrep® granules are comparable with those of conventional sprayformed grain. This means that the press mold is evenly filled and the granules are well pressed.

EcoPrep®: optimum tile quality

  • EcoPrep® granules produce tiles with a high level of dimensional stability, also in special sizes and with heavily structured surfaces.

With the EcoPrep® process it is possible to produce high-quality tiles for special requirements, e.g. tiles with a water absorption level of < 1 %, or tiles with complex geometries and / or heavily structured surfaces.

Dispersing / Dissolving

Dispersing and dissolving in the EIRICH dissolver mixer

The preparation of bodies with high solids content, pasty bodies and highly viscous bodies poses special requirements. EIRICH dispersing systems were developed specially for this area of application and, thanks to some outstanding practical features, achieve results which do not only satisfy the task specifications but are also particularly cost-efficient.

The unique working principle of the EIRICH dissolver mixer allows an extremely effective dispersing method that cannot be performed with conventional machines.

Plastic Bodies

Preparation of plastic bodies

Ceramic bodies must have defined and constant properties for plastic deformation.
Intensive preparation is essential for a homogeneous body with a high degree of plasticity.

The special EIRICH working principle enables:

  • Dry mixing and plasticizing in a single unit
  • Optimum distribution of additives in the ppm range
  • Quick and homogeneous admixing in of liquid components, even in
    small quantities
  • Fast subsequent corrections of the moisture
  • Short processing times with high throughput rates

EIRICH thus offers the ideal preparation solution for the production of extrudable and / or formable bodies for many areas such as:

  • Ceramic Tiles
  • Plastic Refractory Bodies
  • Bricks
  • Stove Tiles
  • Utility Ceramics
  • Refractory Bricks
  • Technical Ceramics such as Catalysts on an Al2O3 or TiO2 basis and  High-Temperature Materials

Specialty Ceramics

Preparation of special materials

In the ceramic industry, special materials are playing an increasingly important role in the targetedfurther development of ceramic products and the opening up of new areas of application.

EIRICH offers such solutions combined with the experience required and is therefore the ideal partner for developing new applications with special materials.

Fiber materials

The unique capabilities of the EIRICH intensive mixer prove particularly useful in the preparation of fiber materials. This mixer can first be used for the separation of any type of fibers and subsequently for coating them gently with fillers and binders.

  • Carbon Ceramics
  • Fiber-Reinforced Ceramics

Injection molding compounds

The production of injection molding compounds and extrusion bodies, e.g. for sintered metal and carbide, is performed particularly quickly and economically thanks to the special EIRICH working principle:

  • a single mixer can homogenize, coat, knead, disperse and cool
  • effective power input results in intensive mixing and kneading
  • the customary preparation times can typically be reduced to just several minutes

EIRICH intensive mixers guarantee high quality standards even for large production quantities, frequent formula changes and varying consistencies. Throughout the world, companies use EIRICH technology to successfully manufacture refractories to the highest quality standards. Specialist expertise has been gained in the following product areas:

  • Molding compounds for all types of bricks; also as hot mixtures
  • Casting compounds
  • Compounds for refractory lightweight bricks, foaming compounds
  • Unshaped products
  • Dense vibrating, casting, ramming, spraying compounds and mixtures
  • Thermal insulation compounds
  • Mortar and putty
  • Special materials
  • Mixtures and granulates for oxide ceramic and non oxide ceramic materials
  • Mixtures for ceramic fiber materials
