Our intensive mixer is synonymous with optimal mixing technology
The EIRICH intensive mixer, or high-shear mixer, is well known throughout the world. It replaced the ring-trough mixer in 1906 and the planetary mixer in 1924. Over the course of its continuous development it has become synonymous with optimal mixing technology. The unique design advantages of the EIRICH mixer have led to it being used in over 300 different industries around the world.
Variable speed tool - From low shear to high shear mixing
One of the biggest benefits with the EIRICH mixer is the fact that it separates the transportation of the mix from the actual mixing process. This enables the variable speed tool to run from slow to fast, which in turn means that the mixing intensity can be controlled and easily adjusted to the application and mixed product. “Hybrid” mixing is also possible, for example slow - fast - slow.
- Higher tool speeds can be used to:
- optimally solubilize fibers
- completely pulverize pigments
- optimize mixing of fine fractions
- manufacture suspensions with a high solid content - Medium tool speeds are used to
- achieve mixtures with a high mixture quality - At lower tool speeds
- lightweight additives or foams can be gently added to the mixture
The result: short mixing time and homogeneous mixtures!
Three components
The special Eirich mixing system comprises of just three components. The way in which these components are used can be varied in a particularly flexible fashion when designing the mixing process.
- The rotating mixing pan, which delivers the mixture into the area of the mixing tool(s).
- One or more mixing tools arranged eccentrically. The direction of rotation and the speed of the mixing tool(s) can be optimally adapted to the different applications.
- The bottom/wall scraper, providing additional agitation action. It prevents caking on the wall and bottom of the pan, and facilitates discharge when the mixing cycle is complete.
Different types of mixing in the EIRICH mixer
In contrast to other mixing systems, the throughput rate and mixing intensity of Eirich intensive batch mixers can be adjusted independently of each other.
- The mixing tool can run at variable speeds from fast to slow
- This allows the power input into the mixture to be adapted to the specific mix
- Hybrid mixing processes are made possible e.g. slow – fast – slow
- Higher tool speeds can be used for example to:
- optimally solubilize fibers
- completely pulverize pigments, optimize mixing of fine fractions
- manufacture suspensions with a high solid content - Medium tool speeds are used to achieve mixtures with a high mixture quality
- At low tool speeds, lightweight additives or foams can be gently added to the mixture
The mixer mixes without separating the mixture; 100% material agitation during each rotation of the mixing pan. Eirich intensive batch mixers are available in two series with a working capacity ranging from 1 liter up to 12,000 liters.
In contrast to other mixing systems, the throughput rate and mixing intensity of Eirich continuous intensive mixers can be adjusted independently of each other. In the process,
- the variable rotating speed of the mixing tools
- the variable rotating speed of the mixing pan
- the exact adjustment of the material dwell period during the mixing process
offer particular advantages for the overall result. Even during startup of the mixing processes, the system ensures that no material which is unmixed or only partially mixed leaves the mixer.
Eirich intensive mixers can be designed to allow operation under vacuum. The vacuum mixer series incorporates all the advantages of the intensive mixer but enables additional process technological steps to be performed in one machine. Such as
- Deaeration
- Drying
- Cooling or
- Heat removal from exothermal reactions
Technologies for
- Molding sand
- Lead paste compounds for batteries
- High-density granulates
- Aqueous slurries or slurries containing solvents
- Metalliferous sludges
- Friction linings
- Soaps
Vacuum mixers are available with a usable volume ranging from 1 to 7000 liters.
Evacmix®
is a system for processes in which deaeration is used to achieve compounds with a particularly high density.
EVACTHERM®
is a system for thermal and reactive processes which has been very successful at a global level.
